Sebastian von Duering is a Hamburg-based handpan artist, composer and experienced music educator. His melodic compositions combine emotional depth with clear structure, telling stories beyond words. After many years as a professional drummer, he found a new musical voice in the handpan. His debut album “Back to New Roots” features seven solo compositions.
Music has accompanied Sebastian von Duering since the age of nine. He studied drums in Düsseldorf, Los Angeles and Hamburg and worked across rock, pop, jazz, metal and electronic music. He later founded a school for rock and pop music and deepened his work as a teacher and coach. After a profound personal turning point, he discovered the handpan. The instrument became a new language for emotions and thoughts that words could not contain. Today he composes and performs concert handpan music, releases live sessions and connects his artistic work with workshops and individual musical guidance.
